Sure, I understand how that all works...but in the end, no matter how it got that way, it was like the voyage of the Titanic...only one voyage, but stupidity and no lifeboats.

The issue may well be the Nepali’s who use the large number of permits to make some $$$.
They should limit it to 20 a year, and the permittees should have to show peak physical stamina and advanced knowledge of climbing.
If not, people die. Hell they die anyways, but the ghouls allowing that many up for $$$ are accessories to manslaughter at least, IMHO.
