Your granddad was wise. Sometimes, when my children are acting like absolute fools, I wish they’d hurt themselves just badly enough to learn never to do (whatever) again, but not badly enough to need an emergency room visit.

He said that to me when he was driving me to the ER. I was bleeding all over the front seat of his brand new Chrysler Imperial, a 1965 if I remember right. I’d climbed a tree using a cinder block as a step up. The predictable happened and I fell landing right on the block laying my head open.
Once my head was stitched up I had to clean all the blood up.
I miss my granddad terribly these days.
