There is no “settled science” period. But unlike global warming, cosmology is not polluted by politics. We don’t have to blindly accept one answer or blindly disagree either. We can honestly look at discrepancies and determine if the theory needs to be modified. That’s how it has gone since the start. Global warming is a golden fleece of the political left, however. To doubt it is the political equivalent to sacrilege.

In today's climate, there is always a need for "settled science"...

Some mathematicians don’t necessarily agree that the universe is expanding, but that it curves around. One I read uses the analogy of someone looking through a very powerful telescope and seeing the back of his head.

I like reading about science where scientists work to confirm other people's theories. At least some scientists remember the scientific method. Its a lot better than getting your friends to review your paper, publishing your theory, and then getting the government to suppress alternate theories. Replication, what's that?
