of us who can remember the 1950s grew up in a different world...


My great-grandfather died when I was 19—he was born in 1893—and my grandfather died a few years back, and he was born in 1922. Things certainly have changed—but they’ve also changed a huge amount since 1984. The internet raised generation is something else.

The technological changes of the past 25 years are amazing in terms of how they are impacting culture.

My dad passed at 98 yrs... his mother was born in 1876, when Ulysses Grant was President. My other three grandparents were born 1889, 1890.

My maternal grandmother remembered hearing the news when the Wright Brothers made the first airplane flight. She grew up with steam and horses powering everything, kerosene lighting. She lived to see the Moon landing.
