I agree with most of your post except for this part. Maybe if the shutdown drags on for months but if it's only weeks they're fine with that. For them its just a paid vacation. They sit on their "non-essential" personnel butts and get their back pay when they return to 'work'.

I know me too. I think there may have been an incident on New Years Eve too. That comment he made about Secret Service and Military running around with machine guns-seemed a bit strange to me. At least, I think it was New Years Eve.
Those three were already on my "do not resuscitate" list. The other four have been tacked on.

Almost every time I go to the store I buy something extra for the pantry. Bag of Beans or Rice. Couple of boxes of salt or sugar. When we use an item or open something-like a jar of peanut butter, we write it on the grocery list.
Then we buy one to replace and one to stock the pantry-did this until our pantry was stocked up pretty good. Now we just replace most stuff, but anything that lasts forever-goes on the its cheap, lets stock some more list.
I was afraid that would happen-read some of the resumes of DEMs and they were competitive candidates.
If the Senate refuses to move the bill forward, it can be brought up again, as it stands and then amended.
By voting in the positive, anyone of these can resurrect the bill.
Get those tests done! and take a nap before tackling the grandkids!
