I despise hyenas. They are absolutely disgusting.... from the way they look to the way they sound.

They’re cats evolved to look like dogs and they’re scavengers.
All of the non human natural world, be it rock, tree, or in this case, hyenas are a kind of metaphor about humankind. There are people like hyenas by nature. We’ve all seen them. Think of gangs. There are people like pigs. Think of feral druggies. There are people like sheep. Think of easily led types. People like Crocodiles. Think of psychopaths. etc etc. Every possible variant of human nature and behaviour presaged in nature.
