There is aspect which hasn’t been explained in full details. The French have about seventy-percent of their personal vehicles which operate on diesel. Oddly, there are two taxes here. The cheaper gas tax upgrade...came out to 12-US cents more per gallon (roughly). So you’d be talking about another $8.5 a month that you need to come up with.

But on the diesel side? That tax is moving up another 24 US cents per gallon. And it’s not just private owners affected....go add in delivery vans and freight trucks (all diesel), and your average cost of living situation will escalate another 3-percent over the next year as they have to cover the taxation increase as well. All of this meant more money coming out of your pocket.

A fair number of French think this was a gimmick to get more people to buy electric vehicles. You can’t say it’s true or not.
