“The children of foreign nationals are PRECISELY who the founders were excluding for being President with the natural born citizen requirement.”
—
That’s debatable.
.
The foreign national parent bestows foreign national citizenship on the child.
Same principle in reverse of how Ted Cruz is an American citizen despite being born in Canada.
Natural born citizens are naturally citizens because they have only one nationality. They cannot be anything else.
Whether it is debatable seems very slight.
The genesis of the NBC, as you likely well know but for the benefit of a few others, is found in a conversation between John Jay and Geo. Washington at the very time and in connection with drafting the requirements for our Commander in Chief.
The clause was not in the draft immediately before that conversation but appeared promptly thereafter. None of the ratifiers had a problem with the clause and there is no evidence they interpreted it differently than did Jay and Washington.
Recommend you internet-search for that discussion (John Jay letter) and give it some reasonable, if not further, consideration. Think about the result where anyone in the world with a cleverly designed U.S. birth could command our nation's military defenses.
That is not debatable unless you don’t support the constitution AS WRITTEN!.
