Trump's brand of conservatism is all about Americans working hard to get what they need.
That "work hard" philosophy has certainly paid off for him. It does not always succeed -- he has gone bankrupt -- but he just dusted himself and went back to work.
Now during the 2016 Trump campaign, Right Side used to play another song that reminds me of the campaign. It was by a country group called Coldwater Canyon and the song is called"Nobody Knows."
That song will forever remind me of the successful Trump campaign that ended up stunning the country (and saving it at the same time).
The reason the Stones can’t stop him is they don’t own the rights to the song anymore. All of the rights to the Stones’ pre-1971 songs belong to the publisher, ABKCO industries which is owned by the Stones’ former manager, Allen Klein. Klein managed the Stones from 1965 to 1970. Mick Jagger essentially admitted, in 1975, that Klein paid the Stones, particularly him and Keith Richards who wrote all of their songs up to that point, a sum of money to buy their pre-1971 recording rights in a settlement. Mick and Keith had asserted in court that they always had the rights to the songs and Klein counterclaimed that the publisher, ABKCO, always owned them. By paying the Stones off, Klein kept the recording rights and has been allowed to literally bank royalties off of them since 1971. Trump is probably even paying Klein’s heirs royalties to use it. That's when the full refrain of not getting what you want, but what you need became relevant and a mainstay of his giant rallies.
He first used teh Stone's song "Start Me Up" after winning the Ohio primary. The Stones responded by saying he did so without permission and he could not use their music. But being the businessman he is, he simply paid the ASCAP royalty lease like radio stations must do and came back at them by playing "You Can't Always Get What You Want" at his giant rally a couple weeks later in the hanger at the Phoenix airport.

The Vile Clinton’s used “Don’t Stop Thinking About Tomorrow”, a song that I truly despise.
Pres Reagan used the Lee Greenwood song.

I left CT, leaving behind a house and just about all of my possessions (They possessed me for years, it turns out) and I haven’t looked back.
Rebuilt my entire life. My family is stronger than ever, we have more .. way more ... financial freedom to do things and everything is great since leaving there. And I wasn’t in BPT either.
What’s it gonna take for you to leave ?
My interpretation is that many may not “want” Trump, but they “need” him. His tactless manners can put some off, but he gets the job done for our benefit even if getting there is not perceived as pretty or dignified.
I’m thrilled that he fights for us and I’m very grateful for all he’s done for us.
One of my all time favorite rallies. Loved the way the trump plane pulled up to hanger and the YUGE American flag waved in breeze above the people head. A stirring image.
Because the Stones told him not to, and it’s raising a middle finger to those who think pop culture only belongs to the left.

I well recall your “live” thread from the event at SHU and pictures of miles long lines in the liberal bastions of Bridgeport and Fairfield. It was at that point when I became mildly hopeful. If memory serves, I think that was the same weekend that he held court with several pastors in downtown Detroit.
I don’t miss CT in the least. Except for the smell of salt water.
I liked that he had them play “Heart of Stone” for his and Melinia’s intro at the pre-inaugaration concert.
