Gmail has changed its format AGAIN. Anyone know how to get back to the old one???
What is this google?
Right f gmail. They are par of Google therefore the enemy.
Sorry, Jerry. I avoid all things Google.
Click the “gear wheel” on the upper right.
Click “display density”
Change the format to your liking.
Is this what you needed?
But Google doesn't avoid all things SharpRightTurn.
Huh?
Thank you!
I don’t think you can get back to the ‘old’ format. The closest you can come is to change the ‘density’ and it looks more like the old format.
This recent change was THE LAST STRAW for me. I’ve had gmail for years, before I knew what Google was up to in total (bias, extent of lack of privacy, etc.). I haven’t used Google as a search engine for some years now; however, I have some blogs and other accounts where I’ve used my gmail account to sign up, my gmail is a user id, etc.
As of last week, I am switching all that I can to a different non-Google email. I did some research online and picked one that I thought would suit me. I’ve been using it for almost a week now. Probably what I don’t like about it the most is I have to manually refresh (if I have it open in a tab) to see if there is new mail (with gmail, you see it on the tab automatically - using Firefox). Other than that, it gives me a delay sending, attachments are easy to add and you can send larger ones than with gmail, I have plenty of folders for organizing, you can create filters, there is a “mail collector” feature so I could collect my mail on gmail & have it forwarded to my new account, etc. There is no color on my new email, unlike gmail with all of their themes, etc. You don’t realize how colorful gmail is until you don’t have any, but being ‘colorful’ doesn’t offset all of Google/gmail’s other serious issues that have become intolerable for me.
Here’s the article I used for reviewing some different emails .... there are many others out there if you do a search for ‘alternatives to gmail’ (if you want ‘free’, make it ‘free alternatives’ - that was one of my criteria). The article lists differ in their recommendations so really look around. I have settled on GMX and so far, I’m satisfied with it, other than the notification situation.

Not if you're using Ghostery to turn off the Google tracker. Great anti-tracker.
The format is similar to one used on the iOS Google Mail app.
How do you GET RID of the pre-formated answers like “got it?”
Gmail goes through a couple of loading sequences now. What’s going on? Is the Chicom bot being called to monitor my email? /s
FAIL!
“Display Density” chooses a view, but does not take you back to “classic gmail.”
