In cryptography, sending a message “in the clear” means not encoding it.
Not sure where to go with it from there.....

Generally - also very good.
I’ve been chewing on this but don’t have an answer. In the clear means you’re not encrypted. The only things you send in the clear are things that you don’t care if anyone reads/intercepts.
If you send something in the clear while you expect people are listening, then you want them to hear it.
Messages being sent in the clear means either people aren’t listening or you’re reaching an audience of people that you know are listening.
More to chew on, for sure.
