My current thinking is that Manafort was a plant and a black hat. That would explain the SWAT team raid on his home.
At the time, I thought it was the Deep State in overkill mode going after a Trump supporter. It did not make any sense that they would SWAT him, as he did not seem like any sort of flight risk or anything and his crimes (what we supposed were his crimes at that time) were decidedly un-SWAT-worthy.
Now I am wondering if it was the Trump team making sure Manafort was in custody and was not able to destroy evidence. And his crimes are likely to include treason or similar, so a likely flight risk and a likely risk of alerting accomplices and destroying evidence.
Given Q’s remarks and question, I’m also moving in your direction.

Manafort and Page were two of several plants. Swat raid without a warrant = fruit of the poisonous tree. Evidence can’t be used.

Another question, since Podesta’s were involved in some of the Manafort deals, and nothing official has surfaced, is the Manafort thing a distraction from the real investigation?
I don’t trust Mueller any further than I can spit. He’s always been a high level fixer for the elite for many years. He might have made a deal to save his own skin though.
