My point with regard to FISA, and this is clear on reading the Keith case, is that it isn't FISA that enables the snooping. The snooping is enabled by "presidential power." FISA is there to make the people believe the presidential power is curtailed by law. It is NOT.

I am sure the people who passed it were sincere, as are many of the people who use it, the FBI, the judges. But whether sincere or not, FISA doesn't curtail warrantless surveillance in the least. See Bush's "Terrorist Surveillance Program," wholesale interception of domestic communications. Still going on, with reams of classified legal argument and statutory changes being made to provide cover or make the perps feel better.

If the public knew the blunt facts of the matter, it would be angry.
