That sort of thing seems to have become more common in recent years. Photo behind the link.

Road tantrum would be more fitting. It’s probably a good reason for more good, competent people to get trained and carry weapons for defense.

I am 71. At 71, you can’t fight your way out of a situation so you only have one choice if talk and deliberation don’t suceed, and that is to shoot your way out of the situation.
Youngsters shouldn’t be able to screw with us old guys and should learn better - one way or another.

My diagnosis of the perp is simple. He belongs to the biological family of common lead sponges.

East Bethel is a very rural area north of the Twin Cities. Farming and woods and lakes. From the Facebook it sounds like the older guy was trying to be helpful and the punk took it the wrong way. (Flashed his high beams maybe?)
It sounds like the punk followed him, tailgating so close his headlights weren’t visible, etc. The victim turned into his own driveway. Probably a typical large property in that neck of the woods - no close neighbors, etc.
I’ve told my kids - DON’T come home if you think you are being followed. Go to the fire station that is near our house first, and then the police station farther down the road.
It sounds like he should survive, and hopefully without any long-term damage.

In Texas, battery requiring surgery is a felony.
Battery on an elder (obviously so in this case) raises the crime to the next higher level of felony.
Of course, this octogenerian wouldn't have taken that beating -- and the perp might not have been available for trial...

The police could stop a lot of road raging before it starts by using unmarked cars to film road rage drivers. Then just identify by license plate and send them a ticket. Stop light cameras are a scam but human controlled are legit in my opinion. The officer can show up to court and testify as to what he filmed.
Road ragers get away with freaking out on the road so often some eventually take it a step further to attack.
And road ragers are not always a "bad person" in other situation. Seems like
getting in a car changes perspectives. I know one that was a pillar of the community and my friend at church. I prayed for his driving specifically and was shocked one day to see he got rid of his fast car and changed his driving habits. I shouldn't have been shocked that prayer worked.

It is long past time to start prosecuting aggressive drivers—especially tailgaters—for terroristic threats and attempted homicide.

The thug who beat him needs to go to prison for attempted murder or at least for battery with grievous bodily harm (or whatever they call it in that state).
