According to Dr. John-Olov Jansson, a professor at Sahlgrenska Academy who participated in the research, said his team discovered a completely new system that regulates fat mass.
"Quite simply, we have found support for the existence of internal bathroom scales," Jansson said in a statement. "The weight of the body is registered in the lower extremities. If the body weight tends to increase, a signal is sent to the brain to decrease food intake and keep the body weight constant."
The research was conducted on already-obese rodents that were then loaded with extra weights, which caused their body fat to decrease and improved their blood glucose levels, resulting in them losing almost as much weight as the artificial load.
This is the first major discovery related to the body fat regulatory system in 23 years, since American scientists discovered leptin the hormone that helps to regulate energy balance by telling your brain you're satiated and can stop eating. Though hopes were high for leptin when it was initially researched, we now know it is unlikely to be a "cure" for obesity itself, but it does play a role in understanding how and why we eat.

Yeah, it’s called ‘wife’...................
please advise,
how do I activate this bodily function?
...” If the body weight tends to increase, a signal is sent to the brain to decrease food intake and keep the body weight constant.”
it has not been working at all for me ..where’s the damned ON switch?
My built in scale is my lower back and my left knee. If I’ve put on ten pounds or more they ache like hell, time to cut the carbs and get back below 200. I personally feel better overall at around 190 but friends and family asking me if I’m feeling OK gets old, apparently I look a little gaunt at that weight. I’m 6’1”.
Supposedly, the more time a person spends on their feet the better it works.
apparently Michael Moore does not have this function.
Signal isn't getting through in my case.
I call mine a belt notch.
A built in bathroom scale?
My scale must be broken. My waistline keeps increasing.
Just start carrying around sandbags tied to your waist and the pounds come off.
As usual its just apparently about rats.
I get were all mammals but there are extremely significant differences between rats and people.
I just tell my wife there’s more of me to love!................
Apparently mine is broke....................
I think your clothes feel tighter but I could be wrong.
Based on the article, if you want to lose 20 lbs, just wear a 20 lb weight belt.
But once you do lose the weight and take off the belt, all bets are off regarding what your body will then tell you to eat.
It’s called your jeans.
I dunno . . . my bodily function is constantly telling me that I’m hungry.
Cankles internal scale must be pegged out, but no one is listening.
Just lost 8 lbs. in the last week. Ya’ don’t want to do it the way I did it. Its called the flu.
Yuck. But the weight is gone and I’m gunna try and keep it that way.
I have mine up to 14 lbs now and try to wear it all day, but especially when I go for walks.
I am still overweight but not obese. The weight belt seems to help me burn more and eat less. I just don't feel like eating so much.
But you have to get off your butt and actually walk around with it from time to time, so your muscles and bones can give your brain the message,"Hey! Don't eat! You're (14 lbs) too heavy."
The vest is not bulky and fits unobtrusively over my sweater and under my winter jacket or coat.
