I think even the most selfish union boss must realize that dwindling membership (in the private sector) means their own days are numbered. At some level, they have to make jobs a priority.

Agreed. Unions have been starting into the abyss of globalization for some time now. They know the future that awaits them if they don’t play ball.

And I think the also intuit the Democrats’ view on the matter. Which is essentially Darwinian: take your members, uproot them from the Mid-west, retrain them for the ‘knowledge’ economy and plunk them down in Silicon Valley. Or you can wither and die. We don’t need you anymore. We got the dark-skinned people which is the future of this country.

This is a huge opportunity.

The biggest problem I’ve had with Unions over the years is the fact that their Leadership advocated positions that went against the interests of the Rank-and-File, especially with regards to immigration.

If Trump can succeed in triggering major reforms in the Unions, coupled with a switch in Union allegiance to the GOP, the Democrats will be in an untenable position Nationwide, since they will have permanently lost the Rust Belt.
