The University Town Center Mall in Sarasota, Florida, has issued a very specific directive:
"For choral groups, the Mall prefers no clearly recognizable Christian music, such as carols sung in English, spirituals or gospel."
In a memo sent out to area groups who are normally invited to perform seasonal music, the upscale shopping mall leaders have in effect banned any music that could be recognized as "Christian." . . . . . . .

Malls will end up being like Drive-ins. There will still be some around but they will be an oddity experience.
“If Im going to subvert the true meaning of Christs birth via commercialism and over-consumption then I darn sure want Christmas music playing while I do it.”
While I get your point and agree with it, I would boycott that mall anyway, just for being so blatantly anti-Christian (no matter how you define it) and I would post leaflets to the mall management and its businesses explaining why. It is past time to stand up for Jesus.
Easy solution:
No CHRISTmas shopping there.
Fixed
.
Our savior’s birth was at Tabernacles, not December 25, so the whole thing is subverted anyway.
December 25 was the day that they placed the new born babies in the red hot arms of the idol Molloch in the middle of the fire.

Traditionally, Tammuz / Mithra (sun gods)

“I may have missed it in the article, but is there an or else attached to the directive?”
I’m with you.
What are they gonna do when 75-100 “flash mob” carolers show up and stroll the mall, weaving thru the shoppers, singing “What Child Is This”?
Or better yet, just for giggles...carrying Black Lives Matter signs while singing “Little Drummer Boy”. That would present a pretty picture in the next day’s newspaper.

1 of the reasons I don’t do CHRISTmas shopping, I just buy gift cards at Kroger’s when I get my groceries. Mail them to grands and g-grands, nearest ones are the other side of Nashville, Calhoun, GA and FL.
Following your line of thinking, if that did happen it has the potential of being our own ‘Rosa Parks’ moment.
And the beginnings of the pushback that should have happened two decades ago.
Just got back from church and read your response. I hear you about missing your parents. Both of my parents went to be with Jesus in 2013 and both World War II Veterans. I too am glad that they are not here to witness what this country, for which they served, has become.
5+ autobiographies! Soooooooo important
Click on the link. It looks like the mall has backed off. It was a misunderstanding, you know.
