From the articles, after all the remarriages, he got lost in the pack of step-children. Also, all the moving, and not seeing his mother, and the coming and going of the children from his father's marriages, probably gave him some attachment and assertiveness issues.
Acting is often a way for such a teen to escape to a new reality.
