Gee, does this mean my Koss ESP-950’s are obsolete ? NOT !

First marketed in 1990 still in production and, while not the most expensive anymore they still rank as one of the best cans on the planet.

BTW, they use 3.5 mm jacks as well as RCA connectors.

There's something very Steampunk about the idea on running 600 volts an inch or so from each ear. Gotta love electrostatics.

After watching the intro video, I now get it.

I have no problem with the headphones connecting through a more advanced port.

I’m on my third iPhone and I hate what they’ve done. I will stick with my 6s as long as I can and then I may consider other options. I just don’t care about sound quality much. I use earbuds all day long, but I rarely use them for music. I’m usually listening to an audiobook, sermon, lecture, or streaming talk radio. I don’t need enhanced sound quality for audiobooks or AM stations. The only time I use my iPhone for music is in the car and then I’m connected via Bluetooth. I also use the same pair of earbuds for my phone, iPad, and a small pocket radio that I use for AM. I buy cheap earbuds because I often lose them or break them. I’ve got them stashed all over the place—car, briefcase, workshop, nightstand, etc—so I’ve always got them handy when I want them. I don’t want to buy adapters and I don’t want anything else to keep up with.

Interesting. Might just be time to get the Objective2 headphone amp with built-in ODAC and dedicate the old one I built from kit to a turntable.

I don’t understand excuse my ignorance please: isn’t Bluetooth “Bluetooth”? Won’t any third-party Bluetooth headset work with the new iPhone?

If so, why all this talk about how it’s a dumb move on Apple’s part to introduce Bluetooth headphones? They can charge what they want for their own proprietary headphones. A Bluetooth headphone can be picked up on Amazon for less than $50. (Maybe small earbud type Bluetooth headphones aren’t easily found cheap?)

So why do you need to spend $159 on wireless headphones when $25 is plenty?

Yeah, extraordinary alright: Forcing their Apple mind numbed robots into being forced to spend lots more money on Bluetooth wireless headphones, or an additional, expensive, PROPRIETARY Apple device that ALLOWS them to use their existing wired headphones, in order to listen to their music, etc...

"Apple, we're ULTIMATELY all about C O N T R O L."

Apple has literally become the antithesis of their original, ground breaking "1984 commercial" = APPLE IS the all-controlling "Big Brother" and their consumers are the Proles = mind-numbed, controlled masses in lock step with Apple's "Ministry of Truth", which controls and determines what news, entertainment, education and art Apple's Prole users are allowed, by benevolent Big Brother, to gain access to.

EVERYTHING in "1984 Apple-World" is specifically and ultimately designed FOR ABSOLUTE CONTROL over their 1984 Apple-World Prole users, and EVERYTHING IS PROPRIETARY so the Proles have to continually pay through the nose in order to continue to be a part of, and access "1984 Apple-World".

Bluetooth has been around for years now and readily available in numerous portable devices THAT ALSO HAVE MINI HEADPHONE JACKS. If Apple was truly "forward-thinking", and not all about control, their latest IPhone 7 would have followed suit by allowing for wireless Bluetooth headphone accessibility while also allowing for "backwards compatibility" with wired headphones by also continuing to provide a mini headphone jack. But NO, THAT WILL NEVER DO because Big Brother needs another way to further CONTROL AND SQUEEZE MORE MONEY out of their "1984 Apple-World" Proles while also providing Big Brother WITH A NUMBER OF ADDITIONAL NEW, PERPETUAL, PROPRIETARY MONEY STREAMS:

1984 Apple-World Ministry of Truth's latest commercial Iphone 7 directive:

"Apple Proles, you want to continue to use your 'out-dated' wired headphones, because you foolishly believe their audio quality to be superior to Apple's Bluetooth headphones? Sure, Big Brother will permit you to do so, but it's going to cost you extra: you have to buy our (expensive), proprietary Apple mini jack Iphone 7 attachment."

"Oh, you don't want to have to do that, then the best way for you to be 'cool' and access the Apple approved Itunes you have paid (through the nose) for is to by purchasing our 1984 Apple-World approved, proprietary Bluetooth headphones."

Is it any wonder why so many free, "OPEN SOURCE", users hate Apple-Corp; and why, finally some of the 1984 Apple-World Proles are waking up to reality and questioning, no longer listening to, or believing the propaganda lies they have been and are being fed to them by 1984 Apple-World's "Ministry of Truth" concerning the Iphone 7 (and other 1984 Apple-World products) and how "great" and "forward-thinking" it is NOT to include a wired mini jack on the IPhone 7?

Remembering Apple's first commercial: Some, brave, free, "open source" soul needs to bravely infiltrate 1984 Apple-World's domain, rush the guards and boldly throw a large silver sledge hammer right into the massive image of Apple-World's Big Brother's face; utterly destroying the screen and setting the 1984 Apple-World's mesmerized Proles free!

I always get a kick out of the cranky knee-jerk Luddites that respond to your Apple threads.

They hate technology and they take it Apple's advances so personal!

I'm glad that wired earplugs are gone. Always getting snagged on something and pulling out of my ears. I'm glad to move into the 21st Century.
