Lots of states don’t even have party registration. You cannot stop it in those states.

I do not understand the case for cross over primaries. Why would Republicans want Democrats to help determine their nominee (and vice versa)? It kind of defeats the whole purpose of having a party. Of course, the Republican Party kind of defeats the purpose of having a party.
