It is the same with running behind the DDT spraying truck-most of us did that, too-apparently with no ill effects, but now we are told it is banned because it nearly wiped out all life on the planet...

And don’t forget soap and other toiletries containing hexacloraphine-we used it when I was a kid, and it was still in stores when my cub was a baby-I bathed her with it and there were no ill effects...

The hex stuff was the only thing that cleaned up my complexion (Phi-so-hex).
When they too it off the market in the early 70s I was sad....and pimply....
