I don't think it is strictly a value-added tax such as we have here in Europe which is an insidious tax but I take your point. A VAT uncoupled with real income tax reform would simply be an additional tax and a Democrats wet dream.

Of course, Ted Cruz proposes nothing of the sort, he wants real income tax reform.

Donald Trump wants to tax the wealthy and we know where that will lead - to a definition of the middle class as wealthy.

Call it by any name a tax at the point of sale is ripe for abuse. How many enforcement persons does it take to mange the European VAT system? I will grant you that the “Flat Tax’ is not a European style vat but it is still a “consumption” tax.

BTW I will make a ton of money if the Flat VAT Tax is put in place. I learned for some of the best in Europe how to beat the system.

I still oppose it on principle.
