dirty campaign tricks and dirty, lying campaign ads is what change my mind about Cruz. The first issue was the secret, undeclared bridge loan his wife, who's a managing partner at Goldman Sachs, obtained for him early in his Texas Senate campaign, where said loan was not declared on the Federal FEC campaign financial disclosure forms while at the same time Cruz was railing against the "big banks".

Then there was shameful piece of nastiness in IOWA:

Then Cruz nukes Carson by lying that Carson had withdrawn from the race.

And then come to find out that Cruz PACs get more money from Wall Street than Hillary or any GOP candidate except Bush:

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/these-are-wall-street-s-new-favorite-candidates-183653260.html

And now we see 24 hour attack ads by Cruz instead of Cruz touting his own virtues.

In other words, you add this all up, and Saint Cruz is just another slimy politician, albeit one piously claiming he's really a good guy and a champion of the people.

This used to be a strong voice for conservatism. Now its largely irrelevant. It went from a small tent to a 3-ring circus. Need I say more?

I still think at some point in time these two will bury the hatchet (in each other) and come together and win BIGLY! ( I know it’s a Trump word but I love it)

Well, your premise is a false one. Few people on FR “hate” Teddy. Actually, you’ll find that several of us who oppose his candidacy now were actually early supporters. I was an early supporter of Teddy, and a donor but I no longer support him in any way, shape, or form. TPA was the slap in the face for me and the news has just gotten worse since then.

Conservatism matters. But so does honor, honesty, the ability to work with and get along with others, as well as the ability to dig deep and accomplish something positive. So Like many others, I moved on.

No one in their right mind and focused on saving the country is turning on Cruz...or Trump for that matter. Most of us realize that no one candidate will be 100% perfect. But, trolls do tend to goad some people, ‘tho.

After gathering information on all the candidates It was obvious that Cruz background put him best as a supreme court justice. After his shenanigans in Iowa against Dr Ben, who I greatly admire as a man, I wouldn’t vote for Cruz for dog catcher.

When it became convenient to equate winning with giving up on the values that brought us majorities in both houses, governors mansions and state representatives of the Republican mold or even, gosh, conservatives.

Trump winning? Yeah it feels good but, at the expense of actual conservatives and our values?

This is the other side of a Bob Dole candidacy, in that “we are at least winning”.

Really? Feels more like Trump is winning and not our agenda.

That said, I don’t mind everyone turning into asshats all of the sudden.../S ...Maybe.../S

I didn’t start out supporting Cruz. But now I am a Cruz supporter. I took my time, listened and watched. I am happy to have the privilege to vote for Ted Cruz.

Interestingly, I was turned off by the “Cruz or Lose” crowd. It was too pushy too early. I wanted to make up my own mind by watching and listening. Now it seems some of those pushy people may be Trump supporters. Weird.

I was a staunch Trump/Cruz proponent. The sleazy, slimey stunts Cruz pulled in Iowa turned me off. Cruz cannot be trusted.

Cruz is my favorite.

The only thing preventing me from voting for Cruz is his eligibility.

Trump is right that the dems will block him if he were to get the GOP nod.

Some of the things Cruz has said and done during the campaign has given me reason for concern.

Some of the things Trump has said scares the hell out of me.

Before it’s all over, I think this election cycle is in serious risk of imploding.

Hey hardspanned....I just responded to an attack from you telling me I was not conservative...I asked just how many threads you have posted...Hmmm well at least one...

I have had concerns about Cruz since I found out Ted Cruz stance on H-1B Visas (LOL that is about when you joined...) when the H-1B Visa abuse issue was becoming known.

Oh and your guy, Cruz wanted to increase H-1B Visas by FIVE HUNDRED PERCENT! 500 Percent!?!

You accused me of not being a conservative...well sorry, I don’t think increasing H-1B Visas is being a conservative...

The GOP plays Assassins Creed in the primaries and Words With Friends in the general elections.

Free Republic plays DOOM. Every. Single. time.

Just my 2 cents, and I don’t care which guy wins.

I don’t hate the guy. But to answer your question.

Here are things that raise questions about Cruz or make people not like him - whether you believe they are true or not:

Natural born citizen status & being born out of the US
Goldman Sachs marriage
Wife’s participation in the Trilateral commission
His lack of charitable giving despite wanting everyone to know he is a Christian.
Failure to disclose loans when he filed for the election despite wanting everyone to know he is a Christian.
Carson deceitful incident in Iowa despite wanting everyone to know he is a Christian.
Deceitful mailer in Iowa despite wanting everyone to know he is a Christian.
Deceitful ads despite wanting everyone to know he is a Christian.
Nixonian mannerisms/creepiness/whiny voice
Constant selling of Christianity
Staff members quitting his campaign and saying he is a phony behind the scenes.

Now, I know the true Cruz believers can discount all of those.

I get it. Nor do I need them explained.

The more I hear Cruz, the less I like listening to him. His cadence, his voice, his laboring over points in slow motion, his failure to speak the language of the people and come across as an attorney... all of it. I’d rather mow the lawn or wash dishes or do taxes. That’s just me.

Is he better than Rubio? Sure. Is he better than Hillary? Sure.
There you go. My take on why people respond to him as you requested.
