You do realize that people are donating to Trump and he is taking and using those donations. He say he is self funded, but he is taking reimbursements it seems from those donations.
Trump has never tried to hide that he accepts small donations from individuals. He talks about it all the time. The point is, he doesn’t take large donations from special interests who, in exchange for their contributions, expect him to enact policy that is favorable to them, not to the voters who elect him. The voters are the only special interest he takes donations from.
Only small donations from people who send them in. He isn’t soliciting for them. Big difference,a nd yes, he is self-funding - not taking any money from Super PACs, lobbyists, or special interest groups, except the American people - he has a special interest in them.

I am on the Trump email list for 6 months.
I am yet to receive a single email asking for donations from Trump campaign. I donate totally voluntarily. In small amounts only, mostly buying merchandise from his campaign related store.
On the other hand, I get tons of emails from Cruz, Bush & RNC, constantly badgering me to donate.
