Looking for advise on a firearms purchase. Any advise on any of the three mentioned models?
Watch the video contained herein:

I went with the XD subcompact. 20rojnd mag with a laser rocks. Be prepared for excessive recoil from an excessively light and short pistol. Consider porting.
For a full size, I went with the Five-Seven. Extremely accurate and delivers beau coup energy to target with max penetration. High rate of fire due to more controllable recoil. Ammo is EXPENSIVE.
I have a Sig P290RS and a Glock 43. I like the heavy DAO pull of the 290 for pocket carry, but the Glock is the best-shooting easily-concealed gun that I’ve ever owned.
I have an XD9. Love it. It’s my wife’s EDC in her purse. It’s the weapon she qual’d her CCW on.
Finally, for the “ in the pocket just pull the trigger and get roiunds off now” gun, I have a hammerless Ruger lightweight .38 5 round cylinder. You don’t need to take it from the pocket or worry about misfires/misfeeds/stovepipes/etc. Best purse/pocket/backup.
The reviewers like the S&W. Thanks
I carry the Taurus Millennium G2, which is the double stack version of the 709 Slim tested. It is very Glock-like.
Plus, here in Santa Clara county there is virtually no chance of obtaining a CC permit, so subcompacts are out.
I did the SIG, then I went back and got the S&W Shield .40.
Guess I need one more trip.
It all boils down to personal preference. And like Dirty Harry said, opinions are like assh*les everyone has one.
If you like the way a gun feels in your hands, it’s comfortable to shoot and you like to shoot and carry it, then it’s the gun for you regardless of caliber, size or external controls.
Personally I’m not a fan of DA/SA guns like the Sig. Switching from a hard and long trigger pull to a short single action trigger pull usually means one or the other will go wild.
My preference is striker fired pistols like the XD or S&W you mentioned but even then I prefer Glocks over all the others.
Find the gun that fits your hand well and is comfortable to shoot. Never buy a gun that won’t fire without a magazine in the well. Stuff like loaded chamber indicators are the equivalent of idiot lights on cars. They are mechanical devices that can fail and you should never rely on them.
The grip safety and loaded chamber indicator on the XD pistols are so they can import them to the US. The trigger pull out of the box on the XD can vary from 3.5 to 7 pounds per the manual. However there are excellent aftermarket drop in kits.
Good info. Thanks.
Gun question on FR? I’m not sure you’ll get many opinions. My vote: shoot them all and see what feels best to you. Pay for the ammo and put multiple rounds through each. I prefer Glock (not on your list), but there is no way in the world I would recommend any Glock to anyone without being absolutely certain they never make even a little gun safety error.
It is best to purchase at least one of each. ;-D
XD or XDM hands down!
I shot the XD this weekend. Liked it alot.
