The on-line retailer Amazon recently revealed the most popular verse in the Bible for Americans. No, itâs not the ubiquitous John 3:16 displayed on posters at sporting events everywhere.
Instead, Americans are increasingly turning to Philippians 4:6-7 which the apostle Paul begins with these words: âBe anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.â
Be anxious for nothing? Thatâs a lot easier said than done these days. Just read the headlines, and youâll quickly discover plenty of reasons to worry: â4 Jihad Attacks in 4 Days,â âUkraine Could Explode in 48 Hours,â and âEbola Crisis âOn Same Scale as AIDS Epidemic.ââ
No wonder 64 percent of voters believe that things in America are âout of control.â And it is therefore no surprise that Americansâ favorite verse these days contains not only a command against anxiety but a cure for it: âprayer . . . with thanksgiving.â The Living Bible paraphrases the verse this way: âDonât worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs and donât forget to thank Him for His answers.â
Progressives are doing their best to destroy Thanksgiving.
I posted this last year, too. It’s such a good piece, IMHO. :)
Very prescient as we continue unto evermore war-torn and upside-down times.
I’m TRYING to stay positive, but I remain GRATEFUL every day. :)
Well, they’re not getting mine. Same old, same old. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I have a friend who encourages people who worry a lot to take out a sheet of paper and write at the top, “Worry List.” Then, make a list of everything in your life that is a source of anxiety for you: health issues, financial difficulties, career challenges, family conflicts.
Once you have filled up your page (or pages) with your concerns, take out another piece of paper and put the words “Prayer List” at the top. Then, cross through each item on your “Worry List” and transfer it to your “Prayer List.” Instead of having a list of items to worry about, you now have a list of concerns to talk with God about.
My friend tells people that the secret to peace in life is having a short worry list and a long prayer list. “Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything.”
Today I came upon my wife looking at the wall calendar so I pointed to Thursday and she replied: Thanksgiving Day.
I then told her I am on vacation till January 2. She laughed and said yes. Which is good because she is also my boss. :)
The cure for what’s ailing me?Some well televised treason trials would work for me.
I could see that. :)
They are progressively destroying our country. That's the only thing 'progressive' about their backwards agenda.
You said...

Lol
Your timing for the simple reminder is awesome. Been having car troubles and was at a crossroad as to whether fix yet another thing or just replace. My son and I went used car shopping and I found two cars that would work fine and affordable. Our family gathered and prayed for a sign that would help me decide for sure as to whether to fix or replace. On the way to have my car looked at to find out about cost for fixing current problems, the Check Engine light came on.
Talk about a definitive answer to prayer!!!
Have a Blessed Thanksgiving.
With bad or good fortune, be grateful for everything that is a blessing in your life. Thank God for it all, and thank him that your problems are yours instead of any one else’s, because you most likely don’t want anyone else’s.
We need to make some serious changes to live the best possible life on earth. Obama is the wrong direction. In fact I think he is evil.
Things may get much worse.
But with faith, they will get much better.
You, too, Grams! All Happiness to You & Yours. :)
I’m pretty sure Goodness wins in the end.
And Karma will be kicking some serious @ss in the future, THAT’S for sure.
A little over one more calendar year to go, in The Grand Scheme of Things. We can do this if we pray every day!
