GOP presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)97% said that he would vote against the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal between the United States and 11 other countries on Friday while campaigning in Iowa.
According to the Des Moines Register, Cruz said he is "deeply concerned" with the trade pact.
"While Cruz said he supports free trade, he believes the Trans Pacific Partnership would undermine U.S. immigration laws and the nationâs sovereignty," reported the Des Moines Register.
"There are a number of Republicans on that (debate) stage who support TPP, who support (the Trade Promotion Authority)," Cruz stated. "I voted against TPA and I intend to vote against TPP."
TPA , Trade Promotion Authority , is the legislation that Congress passed in June that granted President Obama fast track trade authority so that trade deals â,such as the TPP , only get an up or down vote by Congress, which cannot offer any amendments.
"I believe we can negotiate a much better agreement with a strong conservative president than we have with Barack Obama," Cruz stated.
Cruz was visiting the Hawkeye state following a recent endorsement by Iowa Congressman Rep. Steve King (R-IA).

“most intelligent but with proven poor judgment. TPA. Iran.H1B.”
And that is exactly my concern. And I like him. I really WANT to like him. But I keep thinking he’s better as an advisor to someone I trust more. There’s a certain intangible that just worries me about him turning into another Bush NWO type.
And I know a guy who was faithful in his marriage 97% of the time....
We are required to use the headline as it is written.
The cloture vote was going to happen with or without Cruz. They cut off voting once the 60 vote threshold has been reached. It is ridiculous to say that a bill that passed with 67 votes with Crus voting “No” was not going to meet the cloture vote without Cruz.
You need to update. Cruz is for suspending H1-B and reforming the program. He is also for suspending legal immigration until Americans are fully employed.
Cruz has been the most consistently conservative candidate in the race. If you are looking for perfection, He hasn’t Returned yet, and when He does, He won’t be needing your vote.
The other scam: From 11/13/2015
"While Cruz may not support legalization, he hasn't definitively ruled it out. His position, his campaign said, is that he'll refuse to even discuss what to do with the undocumented population until the border is secure."
http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2015-11-13/did-ted-cruz-actually-support-legal-status-for-undocumented-immigrants-
Remember Cruz's team has been calling Rubio basically a liar for saying that Cruz ever supported granting legal status and expanding H1-B visas (yes, Cruz did, not just during the Gang of Eight fight, but as far forward as a year later, even AFTER putting on a show in congress of opposing another amnesty proposal from 2014), which was why Cruz released his immigration plan immediately after Rubio made his charges. Then Cruz's team turns around and tells Bloomberg, on the same day, that legalization isn't off the table!
“The cloture vote was going to happen with or without Cruz.”
Bullshine. How does THAT justify him voting with Obama? He should have voted against it. Better yet, he shouldn’t have written the bill. And as a writer, if HE stood against it passionately, maybe it could have tipped the scale as he dragged a few others with him.
The fact that it might have passed anyway doesn’t mean he gets a pass for voting for it. He stabbed us in the back on that one for his banker friends.
No, Cruz suspends H1-Bs for 180 days for an "investigation" into abuse, and then does not "increase" immigration while unemployment is "unacceptably" high. But then Cruz turns around and tells Bloomberg on the same freaking day as he releases this plan that granting legal status to illegal aliens isn't off the table.
40 million new permanent residents doesn't exactly mix well with this sauce, as weak as it is to begin with.
Getting in line for his rightful VP slot?
“You need to update. Cruz is for suspending H1-B and reforming the program”
Another big and recent change. Not confidence inspiring.
With all due respect, that's crazy.
There is no love lost between Cruz and the Bushes In fact, eer since he left the Bush administration, Cruz has made his political career by beating Bush favorites.
He has been listening to voters who have contacted him on the issue. That and the abuse of the program, have he and Sessions working together to remedy the situation.
It is almost amusing that those who support other candidates don’t have a problem when those candidates change positions, but they have another standard for Cruz.
It’s almost like letting the good ones come back.
Let's think about this for a second: So Cruz is lying about his immigration position, calling Rubio a liar, then turning around and doing double-speak to say that mass amnesty is on the table...
And this is like Trump very clearly telling us that he'll let people in certain circumstances immigrate through a legal process, based on merit (not family), and it's LIKE Cruz's deception?
Let me ask you something. If I didn't quote from Bloomberg, would you even know, listening to Cruz speak to conservative audiences, that he thinks legalizing 40 million illegals shouldn't be taken off the table?
