I suppose the irony, similar to what we’re seeing on college campuses, is that the presidents and upper management of business operations at these financial institutions are deathly afraid of HR, diversity officers, and the wear-jeans-to-work marketing types. The PC tail is wagging the CEO dog. The lieutenants are commanding the ship instead of the captain.
But they are not without guilt, for somewhere along the line they approved the ads. Mind you, financial products are marketed to affluent (they hope) heterosexual white males usually during sporting events, which makes the content and sentiment of the ad even more bewildering.
