Ummm, free oxygen is evidence of life.

Raw oxygen is quickly consumed in chemical reactions, it rusts away, if you will. See Mars.

Still, thousands of locally observable planets with scummy algae choked waters doesn't show the presence of intelligent life on any of them.

Ummm, free oxygen is evidence of life.

I never said that. All I said is we have found planets that are capable of supporting life. Just today FNC is reporting the discovery of another one Lepler 452. Check it out.

I have also not posed an opinion on intelligent life, Just that the possibility exists because of sheer numbers.
I mean 100 billion stars in our galaxy alone, most with orbiting planets, and 100 billion galaxies.
