Uh, no, unless shmacon looks and tastes like this...
How to grow meat - start with a baby cow and feed it....
Syolant Green ????
And if you work in the factory and someone asks what you’re doing for a living...
So what are you doing these days?
Oh I’m makin Bacon.
You like that better than your last job?
Yeah, the boss was always on my ass at the fudge packin plant.
I wonder what the left’s reaction to this will be -
because it’s never about what they complain about on the surface (cruel to animals, takes too much land, etc),
they really don’t want people to indulge in meat eating.
I’ve been getting e-mails advertisements about this for years.
Bad news for the chinese. This is going to cut into their lucrative counterfeit meat business.
Where are all the natural food purists? I would think they would be up in arms agains “franken meat” made in a lab. However, I suppose PETA is all in favor of synthetic meat.
The lions and tigers and hyenas (a lot more, too) wholeheartedly concur!
“Meat is still a central part of diets around the world”
As it has throughout human history, which is why we have canine teeth that are longer than the rest of our teeth and why caves that are hundreds of thousands of years old are full of cooked animal bones, and why if our ancestors hadn’t eaten animal products for hundreds of thousands of years, they would have quickly died out because that’s the only way for them (and us) to obtain vitamin B-12 in nature.
Oh, and BTW, looking at the process of “growing” artificial meat, it looks like it will be completely bereft of B-12, which means it won’t be life-sustaining as would real meat.
humans have been growing meat for thousands and thousands of years.
And it’s gonna look like ....?
Scientists were making imitation meat forty years ago by growing large mushrooms on blood soaked wood chips.
They said you could not tell the difference from it and a real meat. Obviously it did not go over.
The only difference between living "inland from the coast" in this regard is that one area has seafood and the other doesn't. And fish are meat. I think the real reason would be more that meat has lots of protein, protein creates muscle and muscle makes one stronger. In a dog eat dog world where survival depended strength the meat eaters would prevail. Other than beans, there isn't much, if any, protein in most veggies.
Huh?
A few might try it because of the benefits (a very few)
More will try it out of curiosity.
Most people will only try it when it is much cheaper than the real thing and people I trust tell me it taste good and wont make me sick (Me).
Personally I dont see any economic or environmental advantage to cultured meat.
Next on their list..
Lutefisk
Once they can grow meat feasibly in the lab, they could grow any kind of meat, even human meat. Which we could eat without the usual taboos of cannibalism really applying, since that meat never really “belonged” to a human.
So, would you try it?
It also doesn’t hurt that the price of meat has fallen dramatically.”
Huh??????
