Who remembers all of the Chines drywall which was sold with excessive levels of sulfur? In ten years or so, all of the metal near them starts to corrode which cause really, really nasty electrical problems, among other things.
That same drywall also had a mold problem, which in some ways was an even bigger problem.

Correct. Mold takes more time to kill you than an electrical problem resulting in a fire. OTOH, a house fire can be an easier escape than prolonged black mold.
