This is the moment one of Australia's deadliest creatures found itself at the mercy of yet another of the nation's venomous killers. A Victorian farmer was astonished to find an enormous red-back spider had lifted an eastern brown snake off the ground and 'hurled it' into its web under one of the family's car at the weekend. 'It's just mindboggling,' said Neale Postlethwaite, a farmer of 20 years from Gooroc, north of Melbourne. 'I can't believe it was actually able to stop it and then hurl it up backwards into its nest.'

From the Article: “Australia is home to 20 out of the world’s 25 most venomous snakes, including the eastern brown, which is found along the populous east coast.”
Melbourne is on the west coast of Australia.
I absolutely hate the way these douchebag UK newspapers waste space by rehashing bits of their stories in stupid photo captions.
If true, this is interesting however.
Pretty sure I’d reach right on past the can of Raid in the closet and grab the shotgun if I saw that...
Just back from Cambodia-where I tried tarantula fried in oil with garlic.Yummy!
Since when? Melbourne is planted firmly in the south along the east coast.
In fairness, I believe the article says it is a “baby” eastern brown snake. Still impressive (for the spider).
“Melbourne is on the west coast of Australia.”
Hmmm. I was there a few months ago, and it was still on the eastern side of the country. Has something changed?
“fried in oil with garlic...” That’s all I need to hear! YUMMY
Epic fail...
Continental drift?
Damn you global warming!!!!
Is it not alarming that they call the fourth most deadly snake in the world the “common” brown snake. No wonder Aussies are so damn tough. Between the box jellies, sharks, sea snakes, crocks, spiders and snakes there are more things in that country that can kill you in the blink of an eye.
I watched the video and didn't see any 'hurling' going on.
Yeah, I’ll take the zero on that. I guess I had Perth on the brain. I’ve got mates in Melbourne, and spent a lot of time in Sydney, so I should know better.
No worries. Never been to Perth, but have been to Melbourne. Loved it there.
Being in the southern hemisphere, their east is our west. It’s like winter and summer.
Riiiiiiiight...
I have seen Australia-centric maps while I was there. The South Pole is up on their map.
