19-year-old Alecia Faith Pennington has spent her life so sheltered by her Christian fundamentalist parents that now, as a young adult, she is finding it almost impossible to prove to the government that she actually exists.
In a video uploaded to YouTube and quickly going viral, Pennington documents the various ways her parents have managed to prevent leaving even a single speck of evidence to help her gain an official identity or to prove that she is a United States citizen. For starters, they gave birth to her at home, and declined to get a birth certificate or social security number. She was then homeschooled, and the family never took her to a hospital or doctors office.

She should just go to NM or any of the other states which will give you a drivers license and Motor Voter Registration, no questions asked.
Or for fifty bucks get a fake but accepted I.D. in any Barrio in the US.
Stupid parents.
Cool.
Couldn’t get the link to load, but in the movie,
the girl’s mother will be played by Linda Purl,
the father by Ted Danson, and the girl will be played
by Taylor Swift.
Good for her. She now qualifies for free health care, a free education, or at least reduced to less than out of state citizens pay, free legal representation. and up to $23,000 in Earned Income Tax Credits and ‘refunds’ from the U.S. tax payers thanks to Obama’s amnesty.
We should all have had such wonderful forward thinking parents.
No need for her to go Galt, ,she already is.
Your linky is stinky. Can’t load page.
That’s what I was thinking. Talk about being off the grid! She should sign up for Ninja assassin traing.
LOL!
Freedom!! What great parents.
—she is finding it almost impossible to prove to the government that she actually exists.—
Why would she want to? The less the government knows about you—the better.
In 19 years she didn’t have to go to the government to feed her soul. Amazing, because after I heard Cummings speak about government the other day I didn’t think this was possible.
Link works for me.
They took a good thing (protection of privacy) too far. I’;; bet this young girl has rarely even been on a date, I mean an unchaperoned date. When kids are over sheltered to this degree, a certain percentage will ‘play catch up’ and start having all manner of experiences they were formally forbidden from doing. Hopefully, she gets through the ‘catch up’ phase with her health and dignity still intact.
This sounds like someone leaving a cult known only to its’ members.
Maybe it is because amusing Chrome.
I read a crazy sounding story a few years ago, I think it may have run in the LA Times. About kids who were abandoned, etc. and ended up in foster care. I mean, you know, abandoned on the street as infants.
It was all about how they had no birth certificates, etc. and had problems like this girl.
But there they are, clearly they exist, they WERE born.
This story sounds wacky, but what got me about the other story was, here these kids have been in the charge of the state for their entire lives, and yet there’s still no system in place to get them some kind of birth certificate, etc.?
We can put a man on the moon but we can’t solve a paperwork problem?
Strike that. I am using Chrome.
So is this the “White Privilege” that the Libs Whine about???
SO she gets the legal protection of being an “Undocumented Person” and ALSO gets a +1 power up because she can speak English fluently as well????
She will very soon thank her parents.
A typical 18 year-old in rebellion. Not unusual.
Wish my parents had given me the gift.
