I’m starting to think that flu shots are getting less and less beneficial...in the same way that common antibiotics are becoming ineffective.
something showed up on 12/2 and kicked my butt for 2 weeks and is still hanging on a bit
I had H3N2 earlier this month. Of the flus I’ve had, this was not the worst.
Everybody around me has had it but I’m apparently flu free.
The newscasts when the flu first emerged said that this year’s flu shot is about 40% effective. That number could only get worse, I’d think, as the flu it doesn’t protect against is the one that’s spreading.
Anybody for that Ebola scare? LOL / #Ikillmyself
Sounds like a guessing contest, anyway, per the CDC:

I’ve had it for a week and my husband had it for a month. The bad thing about this strain is the head congestion at night that interferes with your sleep, it’s hard to get better when you don’t get rest.
I’ll go get a ‘flu’ shot when every employee of the CDC goes on TV and every one gets a shot, too.
At my doctor’s office yesterday there was a sign posted on the door asking if the patient has been to Sierra Leone and a long list of other countries to tell the nurse at registration.
Sounds like the same thing......1st day wicked sore throat next night 101 temp and there on out a head full of green custard that moved to the chest and finally out
The bugger of it is that you go and get a flu shot, and when your immune system is challenged, you leave yourself wide open to any strains not included in the current vaccination.
one down the street has the same sign but it says,Don’t come in,Call
They keep asking me to get the flu shot, every year, but I’ve never gotten it once ... and I’m retired now. The doctors keep telling me that I need it more than ever, now that I’m retired.
Sure, I catch the flu, but I always make it through ... :-) ...
How do you know what strain of the flu you had? I’ve never once had any doctor be able to tell me that.
The sign I saw may have said that too, was pretty out of it. It was scary.
I think all the doctors’ offices are checking that now, at least I’ve seen it in three separate offices so far!
The hospital I work at is full to the brim and overflowing. DH works at a different hospital and just got called in early for his shift today d/t high volume
