Microsoft launched the Windows Insider Program in early October to provide users with access to the newest technical previews of Windows 10, and until now, this particular campaign has proven to be quite a successful effort. New statistics provided by Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider Program, reveal that no less than 1.5 million people have actually installed Windows 10 through this program, but the number of those who have actually given the technical preview a try could be even bigger if we take into consideration the number of ISO downloads as well.
Out of the 1.5 million users who have installed Windows 10, no less than 450,000 are considered to be “highly active,” as they are most likely running the technical preview every day and sending feedback on a regular basis.
“It’s terrific for us to see this, because that hardcore usage will help us fix all the rough edges and bugs. The reports you send us, both from automated things like crash logs and manually via the Windows Feedback app, are helping us shape the product,” Aul explained.
I duel boot win 10 on 3 computers and all run great ,I have the build set on Slow so I get them when the bugs have been mostly squashed ,LOL
I’ve installed it. I hope it is a free upgrade for win8 users because I would not pay for it.
1.5 million “test users”? Isn’t that more than the number of Linux desktop users on the planet?

Just kidding folks! Linux might actually have 5 or 10 more users than the number of Windows 10 users. ;)
>I hope it is a free upgrade for win8 users
BWAHAHAHA!
I know, I’m a dreamer. lol
Windows is just a tool. Michelangelo used the same type of paint brush I use. It is what he did with his tool which makes the difference.
poor bastards...
I read a few months ago that MS was considering it.
Haven’t heard squat since, I’m sure they reconsidered...
Runs great on my surface pro! 10% of the windows install base is not too bad!
I’m in the program. Very impressed with the product so far. I’m running my best lappy on 8.1 and I’d pay for the upgrade. Not so sure I’d do that on my win7 workstations, though. If they can win that market demographic over they’ve got something.
1.5 Million users pounding the table & kicking their dogs!
Would it make sense to download this onto a 12 year old XP laptop?
I’m not an expert, but I have learned the premise:
If it works, don’t mess with it.
“System requirements include a 1GHz or faster processor, 1GB of RAM for the 32-bit version and 2GB of RAM for the 64-bit version, and 16GB of free hard disk space.” I’m guessing, though, that outdated drivers might be an issue.
