“Do reporters even bother to fact check anymore?”
Well, it’s not that, it’s simply that it costs time and money to do these things, and reality sucks most of the time, so it’s really better for everyone involved to just write fiction on a slow news day.
And then journalism majors wonder why their degree is one of the least respected on the planet. Frankly, I’d rather hire a sharp high school senior for just about anything.
He should’ve tried something more believable, like that he’d been gang raped by privileged white males in a college fraternity...

Remember when Newsweek spiked Michael Isikoff's report on the Lewinsky scandal just hours before it was set to go to print? They claimed it was because they needed two verifiable sources to publish the story. None of the media is worth the powder to blow them to hell.
I believe they still do at the National Enquirer...and probably Breitbart.
