I think ‘Tora, Tora, Tora’ was pretty accurate.

I have heard from someone who was there, that “We Were Soldiers” is fairly accurate.

Anything by Michael Moore has to rate right up there.

“Gone With The Wind” has always been considered one of the most accurate portrayals of a novel on the big screen.

Harry Potter? All movies exaggerate. Just read an article on “Lone Survivor” concerning this issue. I understand “Blackhawk Down” was pretty accurate.

I think the original “In Cold Blood” was very accurate assuming Truman Capote’s book was accurate. I lived in Garden City for five years and the only difference was I read an article in the paper where Alvin Dewey disagreed somewhat with the portrayal of “Dick Hickock” in the movie and book but I think that was about it.

“Patton” pretty much followed history but some key elements were left out.
My comment on “The Right Stuff”. The book was written about Chuck Yaeger but the script focused on the astronauts and touched on Yeager only as an aside.

Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
Why?
It's Texas.
They have chainsaws.
On a Friday night, they be in a mood for a massacre.

I think the worst one of all because it was totally made up was “Fargo”.
I read an article some time ago where a couple of guys from that area were talking and they could not remember any crime which resembled the movie at all.
Turns out that the movie despite saying it was true, was totally made up.

I agree ‘Laurence of Arabia’ didn’t portray the man as he really was. And the movie certainly veered way off the facts.
I also agree...’Tora Tora Tora’ seemed pretty much according to the facts.

“We Were Soldiers” and “The Passion of the Christ” by Mel Gibson followed the books closely. Several combat veterans I know answered that the “We Were Soldiers” was the most accurate portrayal of Viet Nam of any movie. The movie about the crucifixion of Christ by Gibson was as close to the Bible as one could get.

I believe Apollo 13 was technically accurate, but probably less so with respect to personalities of the astronauts and ground crew.
I would like to believe that Gettysburg was fairly accurate.
