JARRATT, Va. A man on his way from New Hampshire to Florida got quite a scare driving down Interstate 95 in Virginia on Friday morning when a snake slithered out from the dashboard of his U-Haul truck. The driver and his passenger pulled off I-95, entered the town of Jarratt, parked the U-Haul at a car dealership and asked for help.
I was sitting at my desk, Owen Ford employee Jason Lowery said. A traveler came in and hollered at one of the service technicians I got a snake coming out from behind the dashboard.' When Lowery jumped up to help, he said the other man in the U-Haul was holding half of the snake in his hands.
He was holding it to keep it from going back up in the dashboard, Lowery said. He was trying to pull him out, but he wasnt coming out.
Unable to set the snake free, the travelers and workers called Critter Control to take care of the stowaway snake.
When I got here, they left it all to me, Critter Control of Virginia Beach operator Lucky Streich said.Weve had snake calls, but not so much with someone pulling off the highway with a snake under their dash.
Streich said after getting advice from the home office in Michigan, he used ice to help dislodge the stuck snake.
Inched him out with ice and cooled him down, he said. He just needs some love and care now.
The five-foot-long snake was handed over to animal control.
Streich said he believed a previous driver lost the snake in the truck and never reported it missing.
He said the travelers seemed relieved to get back on the road snake free.
We looked under the dash and did not see any more snakes, Streich said.
I’m tired of these [censored] snakes in this [censored] U-Haul!
DANG!
Hate when that happens.

I got in my car once, started driving down the road and heard a bunch of buzzing in the back of the car. Looked in my rear view window and a swarm of bees were trying to escape through the back window.
I don’t know why he is complaining, he got a free vinshield viper out of the deal.
Lucky Streich...great name! Maybe he knows Paul Mall.
That snake has the markings of a python.

KENNEBUNK, Maine Two women arriving in town for a vacation on Wednesday discovered an unwanted guest in the trunk of their rental car: a ball python.
Kennebunk Police Lt. Eric OBrien said the women, whose names were not disclosed, had driven north from Boston to the Port Inn on Route 1 after meeting in Boston on Wednesday.
Around 9:15 p.m., upon popping the trunk of the car to retrieve luggage, the women discovered the reptile slithering in the trunk and called police, OBrien said.
Officers arrived and were able to lure the snake into a pillowcase, and the snake spent the night at the Kennebunk police station. OBrien was not sure which rental car company the women rented the vehicle from.
OBrien said the snake was turned over to the Maine Warden Service on Thursday. Later Thursday, Kennebunk police announced the snake has been taken to Sparks Ark Animal Services in New Gloucester, where it will be cared for.
Also happened in Maine on Wednesday.
Nope, not gonna look at the pics. I hate snakes.
Oh hell no!!!
Seriously. Who leaves their pets in a U-Haul truck when they turn it in?
Oh dear lord, that was funny! I’m only jealous I didn’t think of it in time.

Monty?

Evidently, Lucky was able to respond quickly. Good for the owner. How long could he have held on to that snake without either losing his grip or being bitten? Some folks who were raised around a lot of wild snakes, can tell the difference between safe and dangerous snakes.
No-one I can discuss in terms acceptable for FR.
