Imagine the uproar if a white insider minimized basketball players in terms of color or lack thereof in such a manner.

It’s very true though. After a decade or so of some excellent black baseball players, everyone wants to be a football or basketball player and no one wants to play baseball.

Oh please. Enough of the crybabies and their demands for yet a larger “piece of the pie”.
Earn it like the rest of us or STFU and go to hell.

Hasn’t MLB been taken over by Hispanic players from Central America and the Caribbean?

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Seattle Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said Sunday he's concerned about the lack of African-American players and managers in baseball.Translation: MLB is racist. I am more of a hockey fan. Translation number two: The NHL is even more racist. I hate these slime bags.

No place to play baseball in the inner cities, so why is this a surprise?
Besides, football and basketball offer much better opportunities for a college education than baseball, assuming the player goes to class and works at it.

Lloyd McClendon has too much time. Or he is a neurotic worrier. Maybe black just prefer going into basketball and football and some other activities.

Does anyone ever express concern about the lack of white players in the NBA?

The number of African-American players in the game is down to 7.8 percent. In 1995, African-Americans comprised of 19 percent of the big league rosters and in 1975 it was its highest at 27 percent. The number of European-American players is down also. The number of American players, period, is down. Meanwhile, the number of African-Dominicans is way, way up.

Baseball clearly needs more black, Muslim, homosexual, illegal, vegan, climate sensitive players and managers.

That is hoowey. Ill bet you right now that blacks are more than 12% of baseball player population. Why don’t you worry about an EMP this 9/11?

I am also concerned about the lack of people with a brain surrounding the feckless fool on the hill. Are you concerned about that? Affirmative action in action. What ever happened to freedom your doltness? Does freedom even matter anymore? If they don't want to play football, who the hell are you to tell them what they should do? So why are you not putting them in chains and sending them to forced baseball camps so you can meet you imaginary quota on the baseball field? Freedom? Freedom to you always starts with a color.

All professional baseball players are men
Blacks make up about 12% of the population
Assume that 15 = 50% men and 50% women so 6% of the population is black men
There are 25 men on a baseball team
25 X 0.06 = 1.5 black players per team
More than that ans they are over represented

Lloyd,
What a terribly racist statement for you to make. Wonder how the non-black players on your team feel?
Stop such stupid racist remarks and get on with managing the team.
What a racist jerk!

Houston is 17 games under .500 and Texas is 35 games under.
Washington would have been fired if he didn’t resign.
With those types of records the manager usually gets the boot.
Just the way it is.

There are plenty of blacks from the Dominican Republic, from the Caribbean islands, from Venezuela and other countries in that neck of the woods now in the Majors and plenty more in the minors.
Lloyd is just trying to grease the skids for his homies here in the U.S. Hey, the guy can’t dribble, let him play baseball - not going to happen that way Lloyd.
