People out of their cars wondering whats going on, reported Stu Mundel in Sky9.
Reports from the scene said officials were trying to talk a suicidal man out of jumping onto the freeway from an overpass.
The unidentified man was taken into custody around 7:15 p.m., authorities said.
The incident, first reported around 3:30 p.m. occurred in East LA at Olympic.
Right now, the 5 is a parking lot, Mundel reported in the mid-afternoon rush. On the northbound side, people were back up with no option to exit.
Get on the phone and tell everyone you know to avoid the 5, Mundel reported.
The southbound 5 is hit the hardest, Mundel said. There were cars stuck behind a police barricade for hours.
The CHP was trying to aid some of those stuck riders by making U-turns and exiting on the nearby Lorena Avenue off-ramp.
Other freeways have also been affected by motorists being backed up including the 10 eastbound and the 60 in both directions.
By 7:15, scores of vehicles were still stuck, in a group, as the CHP worked at turning them around.
There was no word from the scene when normal operations would continue.
I’m glad i live in California!!!
LA is a great big freeway.
OK, well you have fun out there.
put a hundred down and buy a car
The most Tommyburgers I’ve tried eating at once is two (the double chili-cheeseburgers), but I once watched a friend eat three—and survive.
Don’t know if you remember the brief nationwide paper shortage in the late ‘60s or early ‘70s, but Tommy’s had no napkins or paper towels. You just used the thin slick paper they wrapped them in and tried not to drip chili on yourself.
Bringing back memories of Julie’s near the Coliseum....you couldn’t get near the place on USC football game days; the Obradovich family (former players) later bought it.
Yes, but I did not go to Tommy’s at the time. Lived in Pomona and was not a regular.
all the time.
It isn’t eating the Tommy’s Burgers, it’s what happens the next day. Well, at least at my age.
Make sure to stay close to Home the day after. You might end up with “Mount St. Helens” syndrome.
Apparently, your screen-name is unusually descriptive.
Is the Obama administration causing more suicidesveterans, active military or otherwise?
