It stayed clear last night, so I had a great view of the Friday 13th moon. It was overcast by 6am, though and still is-which is fine with me...
I went to mass this morning and I just have to share my experience. Our pastor was offering his last mass at our church, he is moving on. It was, also, the first mass of our new Deacon. He was a parishioner, who had always been a fairly holy man. When he retired his job, he went to the seminary. This month he was ordained a Deacon and next year he is on course to be ordained a priest.
When he said the reading, he choked up when he said that God sent his only son. When he started the homily, he shared how he had been baptized in this church, received first communion and was confirmed here. I swear, during the whole mass I would look down at his feet to see if he was floating. I never saw such joy. I had come in late, so ended up in the front row. When it was time to shake hands, he came to me first and greeted me by name. I don’t think I could have been happier for anyone. Such joy.
It is so good to know that he will become a Catholic priest and share God’s gift to him with all of us.
