The blogger does a great job of connecting the dots, and he’s absolutely right: this isn’t about racism; it’s about getting an NBA franchise in the nation’s #2 media market at a fire-sale price.

Magic Johnson has done very well for himself in business since leaving the NBA, but with a net worth of $300 million (or so), he doesn’t have the money to buy a team outright. So, he’s become the frontman for Guggenheim, which (in turn) may be a front group for Michael Milken.

In post-modern America, we’re more concerned about punishing the reprehensible comments of an old fool than the forced sale of someone’s legally acquired business property (which will almost certainly follow)—at a price dictated by the NBA, and to a purchaser approved by the league as well.

Meanwhile, pro sports could care less about the Clippers being acquired by a group with mysterious financial dealings, including a man who was one of the biggest financial criminals of the 20th century. As long as they’ve got Magic to smile for the cameras and serve as the poster boy for ownership diversity, everything is just fine.
