The Great Wall of China was basically constructed over 2000 years ago — but if you go there today, you won’t see much of anything that is 2000 years old. It’s mostly Ming and about 500 years old.

The Great wall(S) of China. It seems every dynasty as it aged built mostly earthen walls in many locations to discourage northern barbarians. Only the late Ming section looks like the post cards and gets the tourists.
