She couldn’t leave of her own free will: she was a MINOR at the time.
They should have reported her as a runaway.
You expect this kid to act with responsibility while excusing her parents? Amazing.

Did you miss that they were her PARENTS?????????????? How come the adults can shirk their responsibilities while you demand this kid be held accountable?

Adults shouldn’t take responsibility for anything?
No wonder Obama’s in office.

Yes, if you read it you would understand. Of course, that is assuming you have two brain cells to rub together.

Parents owe ZERO responsibility after a kid turns 18 and shits on them.

How do you figure that? Even the girl doesn’t claim that:
“Rachel, whos already received acceptance letters to several universities and a $20,000 scholarship offer from a New York private college, claims she was forced out of her home on her birthday...”
To: Tzimisce
Oh, and I was 16 when I decided I was smarter than my parents. They owed me NOTHING after that day.

My understanding is that this family has two younger daughters who will be, and undoubtedly are, severely impacted by the behavior of this older daughter. A barrel of apples can indeed be spoiled by one rotten apple. Keep Ms. rebellious out of the family home and allow the younger siblings to have a chance to live normally. And the parents can save themselves more grief by not harboring any expectations that this nightmare will end anytime soon. This girl will likely spend years justifying her actions and nothing they can do or say will change that. Her enablers are opportunists who will tire of their role when they are left to deal with this grown woman and her rotten self centered attitude of entitlement.

Maybe she slipped free of the chains they used to restrain her in the basement.
What makes you assume they didn’t report her when she ran away?

(Why do you need a fire extinguisher when you can call the fire department?)
