More than half are not obese. Conclude that it is safer to be obese?

Speaking for myself, I certainly hope so.
Though I am 45 pounds lighter today than I was a year ago.

Half the people today are obese. So if half the flu cases are in obese people, so what?
To: BenLurkin
And I’ll bet that more than half had hair.
Gotta love statistics.

Couldn’t this simply indicate that more and more Americans are obese?
We might also be able to come up with data suggesting that more and more Americans getting haircuts are obese.
To: BenLurkin
actually, recent studies have shown that obese people are not that much sicker on a day to day basis than their skinny cousins....
and since at least half the American population (adults) are obese, it makes sense that half the flu cases are obese people....
I'll make a bold statement...I'll bet well over half the flu cases vote democrat all the time....

Somewhere, somebody attributes his continued health to never wearing socks or underwear. “I never get sick!”. What this guy saves on medication he gets to pay in weekly dry cleaning bills, so there’s that.

The hospital will not admit you because you have the flu. You get admitted because you are presenting with acute symptoms of something worthy of admission - like pneumonia.
Pulmonary concerns are generally what gets the obese flu patient admitted, along with cardiological risks compounded.
