When I was still capable of handling a checkbook, I always predated the next 10-25 checks in the book with the new year’s date. I had no trouble with the month, but that year blew my mind...
I do so much stuff on the computer now, that I don’t worry about the dates, much, since it is defaulted into the document.
I check the date on the computer...............sometimes. Christmas Eve snuck up on me. lol
