The shape belongs to a group known as stemmed tools because the handles resemble the stem of a leaf
1) Perhaps I have not seen enough leaves in my time, but I am not seeing the resemblance in the example given.
2) If I am just trying to stay alive on a remote island, I suspect I am fashioning obsidian into actual tools that can help me prepare my food for sustenance.
