I live in the People’s Paradise of Illinoistan. This is the Holy Land of Democrats and is filled with True Believers. People here are Democrats first and Americans, Catholics, Baptists, Methodists, etc., second. Someone could become famous doing a “Cult Study” of Democrats in Illinois.
Good read but I think George Ryan is out of prison.
I hate liberals but to be accurate:
Current Senate Members 98th General Assembly: Democrats: 40 Republicans: 19
Current House Members 98th General Assembly: Democrats: 71 Republicans: 47
Even ol’ Everett McKinely Dirksen understood the liberalism of IL voters; that’s probably whey he delivered so frequently for his friend LBJ even though he was officially a Goldwater man.
The Chicago democrat political machine has run the state for decades, and probably always will. I lived in Illinois back when someone like Everett Dirkson could still get elected, but I think those days are over.
Exactly. Once out or the Rat infested metro areas, IL looks like America.
Uncredited e-mails usually aren’t reliable sources.
Illinois Republicans have US Senator Mark Kirk, half a dozen US congressmen, and two statewide elected officials, Comptroller Judy Topinka and Treasurer Dan Rutherford.
An interesting fact for the history-minded amongst us, remember back in 2009 when President Obama went out and campaigned STRONGLY for Chicago to get the Olympic Games for 2016 (won by Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)? Just imagine this situation if Chi-Town had won the bid (they were one of 4 finalists), 3 years away and all of those lovely corruptible contracts!
It was telling that even at Obama’s all time height for international approval (Nobel Peace Prize and all), he failed to bring home the bacon to the “Meatpacker to the World!” Now we can see that he is as he has always been, more squeal than meat!
Once the mess is fixed, then the rats begin complaining about fairness and equality and take over again.
The frightening thing is that Chicago, like other leftist enclaves, will have the political power to force the rest of America to bail them out and nothing will change.
The founders had it right - each state should have been it’s own experiment in democracy and rise and fall on it’s own merits. What we have now is a totalitarian scheme that forces the red to pay for the small enclaves of blue even as the blue enclaves sneer at those who pay for them.
While pretty darn close to a state with no Republicans in office at the state-wide level the fact is the Illinois State Treasurer and Illionis Comptroller are both Republicans.
The rest of the State-Wide Offices (Governor, Lt Governor, Speaker of the House, Senate Leader, Secretary of State) are all Chicago Big City Democrats.
Our Senators: One Democrat (Dick Durbin, blechh) and One "Republican" (Mark Kirk, equally blechh.)
We have 5 US Representatives that are Republicans, the rest are Democrats.
As bad as this state is (and I live here...) I really wish people would CHECK the facts of something before posting it as gospel here on FR.
He got out last December just before Christmas.
Rod Blagojevich (sp?) remains in prison for at least another 14 or 15 years.

Thanks oldbrowser.
Another problem with the posted article is the “Survey of Health Care” supposedly from Investor’s Business Daily” - the survey is a complete hoax.
Don’t get me wrong - Obamacare is a disaster, but this survey is phoney. I didn’t trust the liberal sites that dissed the survey, but here are some conservative sites who confirmed that the survey is not real.

Yeah that was a rip. There’s a pretty straight line between six kids burned alive and Ryan selling trucking licenses to illegals. Blagojevich was a loud mouth jerk with a judge who had it out for him.
Does the stat about cabinet members mean working in the private sector IMMEDIATELY before being appointed to the cabinet, or any time in their prof career?
Just for kicks I did some research:
John Kerry: served in Vietnam, no private exp
Jack Lew: Citibank
Chuck Hagel: Firestone, McCarthy Group (private equity)
Eric Holder: Covington and Burling (attorneys)
Sally Jewell: Ranier Bank, REI
Tom Vilsack: no private exp
Penny Pritzker: Hyatt Hotels
Ernest Moniz: MIT head of physics dept
Arne Duncan: professional basketball player
Kathleen Sebelius: attorney, lobbyist
Eric Shinseki: military lifer
Rand Beers: Marines, career politician
Thomas Perez: no private exp
I remember it like it was yesterday.
