... there has been discussion as to how a three-way tie would be determined for the last clubs in: ...
Cleveland would host Tampa Bay to determine one of the wild cards on Monday; the loser of that game would then play at Texas on Tuesday to determine the second wild card.
The two winners would be re-seeded for the wild card game on Wednesday based on season series. Therefore, the Rangers would host the Rays after going 4-3 against them this season, and would be at Cleveland after going 1-5 against them (and Cleveland would be at Tampa Bay).
If two teams tie for the second wild card, home-field would be determined by the season series and (game) played on Monday. Texas would host Tampa Bay, and be at Cleveland should that scenario unfold. (Cleveland would be at Tampa Bay.) The winner would then travel to the No. 1 wild card destination for a game Wednesday.

head-to-head GRID

*I know, I know - Longshot*
2-way Tiebreakers, based on head-to-head (see grid above):
TEX over TB ... therefore TB @ TEX Monday
TB over CLEVE... therefore CLEVE @ TB Monday
CLEVE over TEX... therefore TEX @ CLEVE Monday
3-way tie, head-to-head records:
CLE 7-5
TB 7-6
TEX 5-8
So it would be #2 TB @ #1 CLE on MON, with the winner going to the wildcard game. The loser plays @ #3 TEX on TUES to determine the other entry.
Watching Indians/Twins on Fox now.

It’s the best time of the year!
You could be cheering for the Astros.
I am projecting the AL Wildcard scheduled probables, assuming a 3-way tie. I will update as the situation changes over the weekend.

All of this assumes no rain-outs. Does not attempt to figure short-rest starts. Obviously, it is doubtful that Hellickson would really start the WED wildcard game.
Dang, I knew this would happen. I hope they go back to one wild card. There’s much less chance of a multi-way tie.
I do like the fact that it places more importance on winning the division.....too many WC teams have gone on to win the World Series.
PNC hosts its 1st postseason ever on Tuesday . . great milestone for a great lookin' facility !
With as short a leash as Salazar has been on I doubt he pitches twice in 5 days. Maybe Masterson will get the Game 1 start if he can.
despite my Cards winning the Series that way, I agree. I liked only two divisions better..
