How about an alien that wants to be a pet?
It’s a big scary universe out there, and soft squishy thinglings are easily damaged.
Maybe as a defensive strategy, the alien tries to act “domesticated”?

I read your story. Nice! A fast read, too.
You’ve got a lot of different voices coming out of you; Keith Laumer’s Retief, Harry Harrison’s “Stainless Steel Rat” Slippery Jim DiGriz, and possibly several others.
Must be noisy inside there.

Think I’ll offload surly Karsh Kentu off on you guys as he isn’t speaking to me at the moment.
And I’ll even throw in all of the pooka and their rabbitoid cousins as well.
Maybe once it isn’t so cacophanous in there I’ll be able to move something forward.
